This upper-upscale mixed-use development was planned to anchor a large regional mall redevelopment in Rochester, NY. The 28-story structure was designed to include 274 deluxe guest rooms and suites, as well as 102 luxury residences.
The towering structure was fully integrated with a mall expansion in immediate vicinity to a planned Saks Fifth Avenue department store and destination restaurants.
The porte-cochère opened into a multi-level hotel entrance. The second floor connected a 10,000 sq. ft. spa and the mall space. The third level included the 18,000 sq. ft. net rentable conference space with a 10,000 sq. ft. ballroom, a junior ballroom and additional meeting and board rooms.
The Westin Rochester was anticipated to claim the leadership position in the overall market place and establishing itself as the premier meeting location in upstate New York.
Wischermann Partners developed the overall concept for this mixed-use project, securing the Westin brand via contract negotiations with Starwood Hotels Worldwide.
The overall mall redevelopment and expansion was put on hold in 2008, when the financial markets collapsed.
