The Westin St. Paul was an integral part of the proposed urban master plan "The Bridges of Saint Paul". The Bridges of Saint Paul was a spectacular mixed-use retail, entertainment, residential and hotel development located on the south side of the Mississippi River in downtown Saint Paul, Minnesota. The total scope of the multi-phase project included 2,000,000 sq. ft. with 450,000 sq. ft. of retail space including a multi-screen cinema complex, restaurants, cafes, shops, approximately 300,000 sq. ft. of world cultural attractions, 335,000 sq. ft. of offices, The Westin St. Paul and 1,150 residential units.
The Westin St. Paul overlooked the Mississippi River and included 250 rooms and suites and 200 residential units ranging in size from 800 to 3,800 square feet. Selling prices ranged from the low $400's up to $2,000,000 per residential unit.
The Westin St. Paul offered 12,000 square feet of meeting space with a ballroom capacity for up to 400 people and a branded destination restaurant. The hotel rooms featured Westin's award-winning Heavenly Bed, Flatscreen TV's, Minibars and large work desks. The Heavenly Bath offers large soaking tubs and separate glass-enclosed showers with a proprietary dual-shower head.
The indoor pool connected to an outdoor panoramic terrace. The Westin Heavenly Spa and The Westin Workout athletic club completed the amenities at this 30-story property.
Residents were to have access to all the services of The Westin St. Paul, from 24-hour room service to weekly housekeeping calls and a private underground garage.
Wischermann Partners developed the overall concept for The Westin St. Paul mixed-use project and led the design effort up to the Design Development stage. The development process was halted after the rezoning of the site was denied by the St. Paul city council.
